HI, this is our first blog entry - we're in the middle of February 2009, and I thought it was time we shared our plans with the world! ThreeOneSix is, as you should know by now, a Church based band from Fulwood Methodist Church in Preston. Our Church is one of the biggest methodist churches in the country, and is a very active community based centre.

As a band, we've been working hard since our "creation" - we meet weekly for rehearsals and play regularly at morning and evening worship. Come and see us sometime - we are almost certainly taking part on the second Sunday morning of each month as that is usually our Parade Service where we're joined by our Scouts and Guides who use our buildings for their weekly meetings.

The band is really progressing well. Our vocals are much tighter, there are some great harmonies coming out and we're making some decent music. Some of what we do is our original work. "Poor Kid" raised over £500 for Children In Need - we were really pleased with that as it was our first attempt to record some original music, and we had some fabulous feedback re the song in general.

We've been back to the recording studio to meet our friends at Anchor Studios in Preston - with more visits planned over 2009, we are planning to release our first album later this year - probably November time, so just in time for Christmas! This will be a mix of our own music plus some of our favourites from "Mission Praise" - amongst our own compositions, we'll include "Poppy Fields", "Decay" and "Blessed". We're privileged to have a wordsmith working with us - Dave is generating some really powerful words that are a mix of religous and social statements. "Decay", in particular, is a strong message about global warming and the damage that we're doing to our planet...it's well worth a listen and, we think, is a great song!

We're also hoping to take the band "on the road". This includes us playing at other Churches in our District along with a request we've received to play at Kirkham Prison! No "Jailhouse Rock" though, just a good mix of music that, we hope, will prove that "churchy music" doesn't have to be played on an organ!

Excitingly, we're also looking at an overseas trip to play in....China! We're a long way off that though, and will be gathering information re costs etc to see if it is logisitically and financially possible for a 2010 trip....more on the blog as that progresses!

Keep looking on the blog to see what we're planning....we may becoming to a Church near you soon!
